Rocker Glam, So Eventful Style...

On May 15th, I had the honor and joy to participate in Festa della Donna.

Festa della Donna is a fundraising event that is put on every spring by a committee made up of supportive and beautiful women in the Lodi community. The event celebrates the independence of women from unjust labor and oppression. This year the large event was held at my parents home and is where I got married last August.

This event is perfect for the springtime.  In the spirit of this event, it is meant for men to give a small yellow bouquet of "mimosa" flowers that emit a sweet fragrance to their mothers, sisters, daughters and friends. This "Festa" is intended to show respect and honor for women.

Women from around the community sponsor tables at this luncheon fundraiser. The sponsor of each table is responsible for presenting a table in a theme that they have selected. So Eventful's table theme was "Rocker Glam"...

In today's world, we continue to support one another. We hope you will come together to help women in need. Thank you, to the Vaccarezza/Murdaca Family Foundation.

Cheers,

Marisa

The Five W’s of Wedding Planning

We all know the five W’s we learned as a kid -- who, what, when, where and why. Did you know you can apply those to your wedding planning? Check in each day as we reveal one of the five W’s and tips for planning your wedding.

Step 1: WHAT | THE BUDGET

When planning a wedding, it’s important to first start with the what - your budget.  We know this may not be the “sexiest” thing on your to do list, but we promise, it’s the most important. Your budget lays the foundation for your wedding. It distinguishes the “nice to haves” between the “can’t live withouts”.

First determine who will be contributing to the budget. The bride and groom? Parents or grandparents? What about your favorite Uncle Ed - he owes you one, right? Once you’ve determined who, now you can determine how much. Be realistic about what you and your loved ones can afford. We know it’s an important day but taking out a second mortgage on your home isn’t necessary.

Need help buying the perfect ring???

So after getting lured into ring shopping last night via Facebook ads I decided to write my blog about choosing an engagement ring,..Men need some help buying to perfect ring for the perfect lady?  Here’s what to look for when diamond shopping….

The first thing you should do is decide on your budget.  Don’t worry if you can’t afford a five-carat diamond ring. Believe it or not some women feel that less is more.  You can always upgrade later down the road.  However for those women who love the “big rock” look there are ways to accommodate that as well without spending your life savings.  You’ll find the size is just one factor in the price of a ring.  Just an FYI guys, the general rule of thumb for budget on an engagement ring is 2 months salary.

Tips for the Complete St. Patrick’s Day Experience

Bottoms Up!

The ultimate Irish experience is to throwback an “Irish Car Bomb”. This drink is one of the most popular drinks worldwide. The ingredients are simple:

¾ pint Guinness Stout

½ shot Bailey’s Irish Cream

½ shot Jameson Irish Whiskey

Add the Bailey's & Jameson to a shot glass, layering the Bailey's on the bottom. Pour the Guinness into a pint glass or beer mug ¾ of the way & let it settle. Drop the shot glass into the Guinness and chug…chug…chug! If you don't drink it fast enough it will curdle and increasingly taste worse. So throw it back fast!

Find a Sweet Treat Worth Dancing a Jig Over…

This St. Patrick’s Day get rid of the Pistachio Cake and make Shamrock-Shaped Sugar Cookies for your guests. If you don’t want to deal with the hassle…have the best baker in town help you out: Kim Duke’s Old Vine Bake Shop. Here are some of the tasty treats she has created for our St. Patty’s Day celebration.

Don’t Get Pinched…

Be sure to rock the green on St. Patrick’s Day…if you don’t, you may get a pinch from somebody. Look at it this way: if you get pinched hard enough it will turn green! On the safe side, be sure to keep the spirit alive by sporting your green. Let your guests know that outrageous green get-ups are a MUST!
